Kilgore Manufacturing was asked by a North Carolina company involved in the gas industry to make this product. It is made from 303 stainless steel and is only 5/8” in diameter. Due to its length of over 14 inches, KMCI decided our Swiss turning lathes were a perfect fit for this project.
These machines were able to easily finish the combination of Acme threads, flat milling, and precision turning with +/- .001” accuracy. A finish tolerance of better than 32RA was achieved across the entire shaft by utilizing the machine’s support turning capabilities. After manufacturing the order, the parts were carefully packed individually to prevent damage during shipment.
